First game of the whole NBA season is the Celtics at Knicks. With the new arrival of Tyson Chandler the Knicks seem rejuvenated, but can they stop the ageing Celtics who are without their star player Paul Pierce? Pierce was a game time decision, he had flown with the team to New York, but his bruised right heel is what will be keeping him off the court for the NBA opener, but he may play on Tuesday in Miami. When asked about his choice to sit out of today’s game Pierce replied, “Everyone understands how competitive I am,” Pierce said before the game. “It’s Christmas. It’s Madison Square Garden. If there was the slightest chance I could play, I’d definitely be out there. But I have to look at the long-term.” Now when it comes to the outcome of today’s game his decision will be a critical effect, I truly see Knicks taking this one.

Laker’s superstar Kobe Bryant couldn’t have any worse luck than he does now. His wife of 11 years is divorcing , many are saying its the end of the Kobe era, he lost the Chris Paul deal, and now, he tore a ligament in his right wrist. As of now he is on IR and listed “day-to-day.” So what does this mean to Kobe and the Lakers? I’m no doctor or anything, but I’m pretty sure he will miss the first game of the season. So far this year the 33-year-old has had some work done to his body, he had knee surgery during the offseason and if the ligament is completely torn he might need another procedure done this year which could sideline him for at lease the next month. When you’re looking from the point-of-view of the Lakers, they are in deep crap for the opener if he doesn’t show up. Bynum is already out for the first five games due to a suspension, and if Kobe’s out man that’s a  1-2 punch to the gut, because with a shortened season every single game counts more than they did before. And to make matters even worse, they face Derrick Rose and the Bulls in the first game.

New Contract for D.Rose

The superstar of the Chicago Bulls has accepted a contract extension with the Bulls, it’s a five-year worth approximately 94.8 million, that’s 18.98 almost 19 million a year! Does he deserve it? Well, after winning the MVP award this year, making him the youngest player (age 22) to win that award, and only the fifth person in NBA history to have a single season record of 2,00 points, 600 assist, and 300 rebounds, I say so! Espically after all three of the Miami Big three rejected the offer to play alongside him and for him to make it to the semi-finals he truly does deserve it. This makes him the highest paid player in the entire NBA. Rose’s reaction to all of this,”I never would have thought in a million years that I would be signing a contract like this, especially coming from an area where I’m from.”  With the amount of money he is now making and the help he will get from Boozer, Dang, and new teammate RIP Hamilton expect big things from this team.

Season Kickoff

Last night the Miami Heat played in the American Airlines Arena, against themselves what they called a “Red and Black scrimmage”. It was the first chance for fans to see their first glimpse of this years Heat team, which includes Eddy Curry, Shane Battier, Norris Cole. Also they extended head coach Erik Spolstra’s contract.

Now today Lebron opened his highly anticipated store “Unknwn” in Aventura Mall, which I was lucky enough to go and even be one of the first ten people to go in. I was able to get two exclusive Lebron shoes called the Cannons and Free gums (only 150 released pairs). It was an amazing store which contains more than just basketball clothing and gear. Lebron had a private viewing tonight for people with special invitation’s to attend at the store, which I wasn’t invited to.

Now, Their first game is Christmas day against the NBA champions Dallas Mavericks. It’s an NBA finals rematch. Where lebron will debut his Christmas Day Lebron 9’s which come out the 26th, lets just hope that he has improved which I’m sure he has on his finishing performance, Bosh has gotten bigger (this was a big off-season for him), and wade has gotten healthier. This could be a redemption for them. I’m predicting that they will go to the Finals and win, but then all people who hate the Heat will use the lockout and this shortened season as an excuse. All in all, I expect a bigger, better, stronger Miami Heat.
